Arne Jacobsen
Arne Jacobsen was born on 11th Feb 1902. He was a Danish designer. He was good at designing furniture, especially chairs. He got his architectural skills from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
The Model 3107 chair which he designed in 1955 is still one of the best classic chairs out there. This chair is commonly known as the “Number 7″ chair. And some reports show that more than 5 million units have been sold till date. This cool chair is shown in many Hollywood movies. One of his other chairs which is also known as a futuristic chair is used in the movie “2001: A Space Odyssey”.
The St Catherine’s College, Oxford is a university college in which we can see Jacobsen’s skills for real. He has contributed a lot to this college. His works are seen everywhere in the university from the gardens to the classrooms. The Undergraduate rooms, the dining halls, a senior common room, a senior common room etc are some of the places where we can see his works. Not just that, he went on to designing the furniture in different rooms, locks, lights, handles of the doors and many such things. These works of his prove that he is a real perfectionist who knows how to do his job in the very best way. It is his love for his job that made him provide these wonders to the world.
Jacobsen’s works can be found in galleries all over the world. He is one of the most famous architect and designer in the world who is from Denmark. He died on 24th March 1971, but his architectural works still reminds people of the great designer. He will stay in the minds of the people for a long time – he will even be remembered by the coming generations because of his great works.
