The Brno chair was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1929-1930 for the bedroom of the Tugendhat House in Brno, Czech Republic and it’s a modernist cantilever chair. It was considered by Dan Cruickshank as “one of the 80 man-made treasures” in his BBC show “Around the world in 80 Treasures”. There are more models of Brno chair, the earliest one was MR20, designed in 1927. The chair became a modern furniture classic and other 3 models were created over the next few years. It has a single piece frame made of chrome plated steel or polished stainless steel, bent in a “C” shape with arms, and leather upholstery (for both seat and back). The stell frame comes in two versions: tubular steel or flat steel. It comes also with hardwood frame instead of steel and the original was upholstered with parchment.
