Designer: Isamu Noguchi

Designed: 1957

Isamu Noguchi is one of the most famous designers of the 1950’s. The Cyclone Dining Table was designed in 1953 and was meant to be a rocking stool made of wood and metal wire. Later on it was manufactured in various sizes and it became a small table, too. In 1957 the small table became a full size table at the suggestion of Hans Knoll, who is still producing them to the present day. The table has a sculptural base made of chome plated steel wires. these wires connect a black iron foot and the wooden top. The top comes in black, white or walnut and is made of a laminated 12-layer plywood. Today the table comes in three sizes: is 28.5″ tall and the top can have 36, 42 or 48″ diameter.
